World Autism Awareness Day 2 April
Often, when I see what’s in the news, my thoughts turn to the thousands of women and mothers who are suffering; especially those living in war zones, in poverty, and those with sick, wounded or disabled children.

Then last week, while scoping for content for this first ezine, another group came to mind; Mothers of Children with Autism.

Seeing as though Inform launches in April – in the same month that World Autism Awareness Day takes place - seems an especially good reason to recognise these special women in some way.

Facts about autism:
- With tens of millions affected, autism is an epidemic that affects as many as 1 in 100 children

- This year more children will be diagnosed with
Autism than with cancer, diabetes & AIDS combined

- Boys are four times more likely than girls to have Autism

- Autism does not discriminate by geography, class, or ethnicity

- The UN resolution to introduce World Autism Awareness Day was tabled by the State of Qatar.
Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Consort of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, not only supported the campaign, she also gathered support from all UN member States.

Mums of children with Autism, we salute you!
