10 Gift Ideas for Father’s Day
Why is it that when Father’s Day looms (despite the fact that there’s shopping to be done) the average female brain freezes, sometimes refusing to yield a single gift idea?
In the UAE Father’s Day 2009 takes place 21st June so we quizzed a few dads to find out about the prezzies they would like to get on their special day.
Here is their most wanted list:
- Tickets to sporting events – Grand Prix, Golf, Horse Racing
- Mall Vouchers – These offer great choice and variety
- ACE or Dubai Garden Centre vouchers – For BBQ, DIY and gardening enthusiasts
- Sports, Cycling or Golf store vouchers – For sporty dads
- DG Sharaf or Plug Ins vouchers – Should make all dads happy
- Restaurant, Spa or Grooming vouchers – Specially for dads who work too hard
- Virgin or Magrudy’s vouchers – For bookworms and music lovers
- Personalised – Even if your budget is tight you can still spoil your dad. Get creative and print vouchers with acts of service as gifts. For example cook dad’s favourite meal, bake his favourite cake, wash & wax his car or be slave / golf caddy / chauffeur for a day (or hour)
- Adventure or experiential voucher – But only if you’re certain your dad wants to try something new like a helicopter flip, bungee jumping or swimming with dolphins
- Lots of TLC – whether this means loading all of your dad’s favourite songs from his CD’s onto his IPod, serving him breakfast in bed, taking him dune-bashing or for a walk on the beach, Father’s Day gives us all a great opportunity to spend real quality time with our dads.
And remember, if you’re going to give anyone a store or mall voucher as a gift, try not to buy it at the last minute. Or the receiver could feel that they’re an afterthought.
